The Carlisle Junior Bison finally got into the win column last week.
After starting the season 0-4 and with three consecutive close losses, the Junior Bison put it all together for a 44-14 win over Clarendon.
"They were excited … it was big for them," Carlisle coach Brandon Barbaree said. "You need that evidence at the end of the working. You did off-season and two-a-days, and all that and you’re losing these close games.
"It was good to get one and they were deserving of it. They’ve just kept working so hopefully it will snow ball and we’ll have a chance to win a few more."
Carlisle took an 8-0 lead in the first quarter on a 49-yard run by Devon Kendrick. Tristan Seidenschwarz added the two-point conversion.
Clarendon tied it at 8-8 on a 27-yard run with 2:31 left in the first quarter. Carlisle regained the lead at 16-8 on a 57-yard run by Tyler Sanders. Ty Golleher added the two-point conversion.
Carlisle pushed its lead to 24-8 when Golleher scored on a 5-yard run with 3:39 left in the first half. Kendrick added the two-point conversion.
Clarendon cut the deficit to 24-14 on a 25-yard run with 1:16 left. The Junior Bison responded with a 57-yard pass from Seidenschwarz to Kendrick with 39 seconds left to make the score 30-14 at halftime.
The Junior Bison scored two touchdowns in the second half. Golleher scored on a 43-yard run with 4:47 left in the third quarter. Kendrick scored the two-point conversion. He then scored on a 22-yard run with 7:52 left in the game.
Golleher led the Junior Bison with 119 yards rushing on 12 carries. Kendrick had 97 yards on seven carries. Sanders had 76 yards on five carries.
