Thursday: The American Legion Post 71of Cabot will be holding our monthly meeting at 7 p.m. at the Post, 114 N. 1st Street, Cabot. Pre-meeting meal will be at 6 p.m. All members and spouses are welcome to come.

If you are a son of a Veteran, you may join the Sons of Legion, SAL. All ladies my join the Auxiliary. All daughters may join the Junior Auxiliary. If you ride a motorcycle you can join our chapter of the American Legion Riders. We even have a Honor Guard.

Saturday: The Lonoke Police and Fire departments will be hosting a public awareness event, in partnership with Atwoods and Dollar Tree from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Atwoods/Dollar Tree parking lot. Free food and entertainment will be provided. The public is invited to come and learn about the special election on Nov. 14.


Saturday: The Woodlawn Community Center will have a spaghetti supper fundraiser, with delicious homemade desserts at 4:30 p.m. Cost is $10. The Larry Weathers Band will entertain everyone with their special music and songs.


Saturday: The Zyndall Raney Band will be preforming from 7-10 p.m. at Ward Country Dance located just off US Hwy 67 Exit 25 (Ward Exit) in Ward. Saturday: From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. is National Drug Take Back Day as law enforcement agencies across the state will collect expired or unwanted prescription drugs. Collection sites are at the Cabot and Carlisle police departments along with the Sheriff’s Office in Lonoke.


Saturday: A clean-up day has been set at Toltec Mounds Archeological State Park. It will start at 10 a.m. To participate in this year’s cleanup, please contact the park to let us know you are interested in helping. Volunteers should meet at the Toltec Mounds Archeological State Park visitor center to sign in and receive further instructions. Supplies such as trash bags, tools, and safety vests are provided. Some gloves are available but volunteers are welcome to bring their own.

Monday: Wii Play at 4 p.m. at the Carlisle Public Library.


Tuesday: Zion Hill Baptist Church will have a fall festival from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31, in the Fellowship Hall of the church. There will be games and activities for children, including a bounce house. Corndogs, popcorn, and pink lemonade will be available and will be free. Pastor Terry Fortner invites the community to “Zion Hill for a safe alternative this Halloween. Children may come in costume. However, we ask that there be no costumes with occult themes.” The church is located on Zion Hill Road near the intersection of Highways 89 and 107, approximately 7 miles west of Cabot.


Nov. 2: The Lonoke Chamber of Commerce will meet at noon in the depot. Lunch will be provided for $10.


Nov. 4:Plantation Agriculture Museum State Park will have homemade soap making classes at 9 a.m. on Nov. 4 and again on Nov. 18. Participants will each receive a pamphlet of soap recipes, several bars of soap, and memories to take home. Please bring an apron or clothing which will cover your arms and legs and wear close-toed shoes. This workshop may be attended by ages 18 and up, while ages 16 to 17 are required to be accompanied by an adult. Space is limited and reservations are required.
