The Woodlawn Community Center resumed its meeting Thursday, and opened its doors at 10:30 a.m. It was another hot day with 20 friends and neighbors attending.

Cricket Findley invited everyone to join her in saying the Pledge of Allegiance. With Anita Weathers at the piano, everyone sang "God Bless America." Mr. Jerry Miller gave the opening prayer. Prayers were said for everyone who was sick and suffering with the loss of a loved one. Dorothy Shoemaker, Woodlawn’s longtime member and friend, passed away July 5 and was buried July 10. We will miss her.

The Woodlawn Community Center was pleased and privileged to have Miller, from the Caroline Association (a special music coordinator for several districts) in the state. He led the group singing, and closed with "Amazing Grace."

He began his program by singing "Beulah Land," requested by Adell Hill. His first reading was from the book of John 14:1, followed by his singing of "Heaven’s Jubilee."

His message was based on 1 Thessalonians 4:13, on the Resurrection. He then sang "No One Ever Cared for Me, But Jesus." He than read the 23rd Psalm, followed by 1 Peter 5:6-10. He read several more chapters from the Bible and sang "Don’t Worry about Tomorrow" and "His Eyes are on the Sparrow."

Miller blessed the food for potluck. Everyone enjoyed the food and fellowship.

Next Thursday, Kern Kennedy and his band will delight everyone with their music. So come and enjoy the day with us at the Woodlawn Community Center, located at 10070 Arkansas Highway 31 North. Come early for a cup of coffee, register for a door prize and bring a dish for potluck.
