A Cabot man was arrested by the Lonoke County Sheriff’s department for stealing metal Jan. 3.

At around 5:10 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office received a call about someone at an abandoned residence on Vice Lane. That person was loading something into a truck.

Deputy Anthony Counts and Lt. Jim Kulesa responded. They found Ricky Ruby, 44, of Cabot, who was loading scrap metal from the residence into his truck.

According to the report, Ruby said he didn’t know who owned the property; he was trying trying to be nice and help clean up the neighborhood.

Ruby was arrested for criminal trespass and theft of property.
