A Cabot man died and four people were injured in a two-vehicle collision Saturday morning.
According to the State Police fatal crash summary, Ernest D. Smith, 79, was pronounced dead at the hospital. He was a passenger in a 2007 Toyota driven by Sheila Smith, also of Cabot, who was listed as injured in the collision.
According to the summary, the Smith’s vehicle was struck by a 1994 Nissan truck driven by William Sellers, 20, of Conway. Sellers and passenger Noah McBee were injured.
The collision occurred at about 7:45 a.m. on Nov. 23, on Arkansas Highway 5, north of Shurley Lane.
Sellers, southbound on Highway 5, had crossed the center line to avoid a wrecker that was on the roadway shoulder in the process of loading a vehicle. Sellers’ vehicle struck the Smith’s vehicle head on.
The injured were taken to UAMS and Arkansas Children’s Hospital.
Information in an Arkansas State Police fatal crash summary is preliminary findings by an investigating officer; summaries are not final reports of a highway crash investigation.
