Austin’s mayor and aldermen joined county and federal representatives Tuesday for a groundbreaking to mark the start of construction on the newest commercial project — Dollar General. Mayor Bernie Chamberlain said she is excited about what the future holds for the city. "We are growing," the mayor said. "We have bought our own hard hats because we expect to be doing this a lot. We even got a custom hat for the county judge." Chamberlain then held-up a western-style hat, and said there soon will also be a doughnut shop built. "I am really anxious to see the school built here, too" she said.
