Briefings on the 2014 Farm Bill for producers, landowners, lenders, and other industry members will be held March 5 by the USA Rice Federation. The series of sessions will be at two locations: 8 a.m. – 11 a.m., in the Grand Prairie Center Auditorium at Stuttgart; and 2:30 p.m. – 6 p.m., in the Paragould Community Center, 3404 Linwood Dr., Paragould.

Speakers will be Betsy Ward, USA Rice president and CEO; Reece Langley, vice president of government affairs; and Lauren Echols senior manager of government affairs. Key provisions of the 2014 Farm Bill, and the implications for the U.S. rice industry will be explained.
The new Farm Bill gives a solid policy foundation for rice producers to act upon, Ward said.
President Barack Obama signed the 2014 Farm Bill on Feb. 7. The Bill reauthorizes policies on commodity, conservation, crop insurance, trade, nutrition, and other important issues through 2018.
