The need for blood donations grows during summer, the time when people are most active and subject to accident or injury requiring a blood transfusion; the American Red Cross is calling for donors to prevent a summer shortage. Donors of all blood types, but especially those with types O negative, B negative and A negative, are needed. Make an appointment or visit at local blood drives to donate.
Type O negative can likely be transfused to anyone, while A negative and B negative is in limited supply – being in most demand and/or limited supply means running out quickly.
Anyone donating blood from now through July 7 will get a commemorative Red Cross T-shirt (while supplies last).
To learn more or to make an appointment visit redcrossblood.org or call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767).
Blood drives will be held at these Cabot locations:
July 5: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Walmart, 304 S. Rockwood Drive;
July 9: 2 p.m. - 7 p.m., Renew Church, 1122 South 2nd St.
