The Cabot polling site was crowded Monday evening as the clock ran out for early voting; an estimated 250 voters were in line by 4:30 to beat the 5 p.m. closing. People were parking three blocks away from the site for the sparsity of space. Everyone who was in line before the deadline was able to vote. County Election Commission member Jerry Shepard said about 12,500 people voted early in Lonoke County. With about 35,700 registered voters in county, about 35 percent voted early. "There are some elections that do get this many voters," Shepard said.
