Voters in the June 10 Preferential Primary Runoff election gave Jerrell Maxwell a wide margin over incumbent County Assessor Jack McNally in the race for nomination as the Republican candidate for assessor. Without another candidate for county assessor on the November general election, the nomination means Maxwell will assume the post Jan. 1, 2015.

County results in the state attorney general Republican runoff reflected the statewide totals in giving Leslie Rutledge the nomination. Rutledge will now face Democratic candidate state Rep. Nate Steel and Libertarian candidate Aaron Cash in the November General Election.
