The first day of school includes handling the turbulence of a new school bus schedule and, as anticipated by school officials, shortly after dismissal, phone lines lighted up with calls about an array of problems. Superintendent Tony Thurman said getting students to school in Monday morning went smoothly, "But that’s the easy part. Getting everyone back home is the difficult part… That’s when the problems crop up," he said. Michele French, Aaron Randolf, Pam Gray and Linda Payne take calls on a bank of five extra telephones set up to handle the expected problems, the fifth phone is out of view.
