Sixth graders of Cabot School District will hear of effects of using tobacco in presentations on Thursday, Feb. 14. Coalition for Tobacco-Free Arkansas director Katherine Donald, arranged for the presentations.

Speaker will be Rick Bender, who warns of the dangers and consequences of using chewing tobacco in a message based on experience. On his Website, Bender tells of being known as, "The man without a face."

Bender will speak at 8:10 a.m. at Middle School South, and 10 a.m. at Middle School North.

On his website, Bender describes being diagnosed with cancer at 26 years old, and having his saved by four major surgeries in which he lost a third of his tongue, half of his jaw and 25 percent of the use of his right arm.
