Charles Ray Massey, 86, went to heaven on Tuesday, July 30. He was born in Landis, Arkansas, on June 24, 1927, to Hugh and Sybil Massey. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Hugh Jr., and a sister, Jolene Drewry.

Charles spent his career in food sales, working for Ruffs Grocery in Marshall, Safeway in Kansas, and Borden Foods in Little Rock. After that, he worked for Cabot Public Schools for 16 years, driving a school bus and helping the school district and community whenever he could. When he finally retired from working, he enjoyed morning coffee and breakfast with friends and family at several local diners. He loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed camping and four-wheeling with his family. He was a deacon at Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Cabot.

He will be greatly missed by his wife of 65 years, Rachel Louise (Lockerby) Massey. Other survivors include his daughter Debbie (Frank) Pullen of Roland; son Chuck (Joyce) Massey of Austin; brother Marcus Massey of Vilonia; sister Ilona Steen of Marshall; 4 granddaughters, 3 grandsons, 3 great-grandchildren, and his baby dog, Princess.

Visitation was Friday, August 2, from 5-7 at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Cabot. Funeral services were Saturday, 10 a.m. in the same location.

The family would like to thank all friends and other family members for their love and support during this time.
