Gordon Wilbur Tarter, 88, of Carlisle, passed away, Friday, February 1, 2013. He was a veteran of World War II, a farmer, and a member of the Carlisle First United Methodist Church.
He was born August 13, 1924, in Carlisle, the son of James U. and Susie Rowland Tarter. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Keith and David Gayle Tarter, and two sisters, Allene Cox of England and Sue Turner of Little Rock.
Gordon is survived by his wife, Jackie Tarter; one son, Gordon Tarter Jr. and wife, Sandy of Carlisle; one daughter, Jan Pasley and husband Mike of Hazen; two sisters-in-law, Faye Tarter Carroll of Benton and Sue Tarter of Little Rock; two brothers-in-law, Roy Cox of England and Dr. Thomas Turner of DeValls Bluff; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held Monday, February 4, 2013, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Westbrook Funeral Home in Hazen. Funeral services were held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 5, 2013, at the First United Methodist Church in Carlisle. Interment will be in the Carlisle Cemetery.
