Lewis Edward Sample, 57, of Cabot died Wednesday, July 4, 2012. He was born Aug. 7, 1954, in Oak Harbor, Wash.
He served in the Marine Corps and later served as a paramedic and a police officer for many years. Later in his life, he enjoyed a career as a successful owner/operator in the trucking industry, affiliated with Triple Transport.
He was preceded in death by his father, Victor Sample of Taylor Town, La.
Survivors include his wife, Tammie Sample; his mother, Gwendolyn Blanchard, and stepfather Charles Blanchard of Bentonville; two, sons, Clayton Sample and wife Christina of Jacksonville, Ark., and Lyle Starr and wife Jamie of Cabot; a stepson, Shane Tabor and wife Laura of North Little Rock; two daughters, Heather McCoun and husband Robert of Houston, Texas, and Brandi Sample of Jacksonville, Texas, and Robin Kendrick of Cabot; a brother, Michael Wayne Sample of Searcy; a sister, Glennda Darlene Lawson and husband Weyland of Benton, La.; and 11 grandchildren.
Visitation was from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, July 8, 2012, at Thomas Funeral Home in Cabot. A memorial service was held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 9, 2012, at the funeral home. A graveside service will be at noon at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock.
