The Cabot Centennial Bank White American Legion baseball team swept three games from Newport in three days last weekend.
Cabot beat Newport 14-3 and 4-0 at Newport on Friday then completed the sweep with a 12-2 win at the Brian Wade Conrade Memorial Field on Sunday.
In Sunday’s game, Cabot trailed 2-1 after the top of the fourth. Cabot then scored six in the bottom of the frame and four more in the fifth to take control of the game.
Jonathan Latture, Chris Odom, Adam Hicks and Clay Spafford each scored two runs. Also scoring were Tyler Tucker, Gavin Tillery, Dylan Bowers and Dalten Hurst each scored a run.
In Friday’s nightcap, Cabot scored twice in the first and single runs in the second and third innings.
Scoring were Hicks (twice), Odom and Gilbert.
Odom got the win, allowing only one hit in five innings of work. He struck out four.
In Friday’s opener, Cabot scored three runs in the first and second innings, one in the fourth and seven in the fifth.
Scoring two runs each were Latture, Odom, Hicks, Tillery, Null and Drake Borroughs.
Latture got the win, giving up three runs and seven hits in five innings of work.
Cabot 4, Sylvan Hills 3
The Cabot Centennial Bank White American Legion baseball team edged Sylvan Hills 4-3 on June 6 in Sherwood.
Cabot led 1-0 after the first inning. Tyler Tucker walked and scored on a double by Adam Hicks.
Cabot added another run in the third. Jonathan Latture singled and scored on a single by Gavin Tillery.
Cabot’s final two runs came in the fourth. Tyler Gilbert walked and scored on a double by Latture. Two batters later, Tucker singled, driving in Latture.
Sylvan Hills scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth.
Austin Null got the win, pitching four innings. He allowed four hits and three runs while striking out four. Tillery got the save, pitching the fifth inning.
