Cabot Centennial Bank won two of three senior American Legion baseball games last week.

It beat Sheridan 7-3 on July 11 and then beat Conway 11-1 in the first of two games Thursday before dropping the nightcap to North Little Rock 10-8.

Centennial Bank is now 13-12 on the season.

Cabot 7, Sheridan 3

Centennial Bank rallied from a 3-0 first-inning deficit to beat Sheridan 7-3 last week.

Centennial Bank starting pitcher Kyle Kaufman threw his best game of the season. He pitched into the seventh inning, allowing three runs in six innings. He struck out 11 in the victory, including twice fanning the side.

After giving up three runs in the top of the first, Centennial Bank started its comeback in the bottom of the first. Bryson Morris led off with a double and scored on a single by T.C. Carter.

Centennial Bank added another run in the bottom of the second. Cole Thomas walked and stole second. He went to third when Ryan Logan grounded out to second base. Thomas then scored on a passed ball.

The score remained 3-2 until the sixth. Chip Morris singled with one out and scored on a single by Logan.

Centennial Bank took a 6-3 lead with three runs in the bottom of the seventh. Casey Vaughan, Carter and Justin Goff each scored runs.

Centennial Bank’s final run came in the bottom of the eighth. Vaughan reached on a fielder’s choice and scored when Carter reached on an error.

Carter led his team with three hits in five at-bats. Logan had two hits, including a double off the right field wall in the fourth inning.

Cabot 11, Conway 1

Cabot Centennial Bank pitcher Chip Morris allowed one run on two hits in five innings of work in his team’s 11-1 win over the Conway Cougars on Thursday.

Morris’ only run was unearned in the top of the third.

He struck out nine in the victory.

Centennial Bank got on the board with four runs in the bottom of the first. Bryson Morris led off with a walk and scored. Two batters later, Casey Vaughan walked and eventually scored, as did Justin Goff. Chip Morris singled and scored.

Centennial Bank added two runs in the third inning. With one out, Vaughan was hit by a pitch and scored. T.C. Carter reached on an error and scored.

Centennial Bank added three runs in the fifth. Goff led off with a single and scored on a homer by Chip Morris. Cole Thomas singled and scored on a single by Bryson Morris.

The final two runs came in the bottom of the sixth. Tristan Bulice led off with a single and scored when Vaughan hit a game-ending home run over the right field fence.

Chip Morris led the offense with two hits in three at-bats.

NLR 10, Cabot 8

The North Little Rock Colts scored nine runs in the top of the seventh inning to beat Cabot Centennial Bank 10-8 in the second of two games Thursday.

Centennial led 7-1 after six innings.

After the Colts’ onslaught in the top of the seventh, Centennial Bank tried to mount a comeback in the bottom of the seventh. Chip Morris reached on a fielder’s choice with two outs and eventually scored. Centennial Bank loaded the bases as Cole Thomas singled, Tyler Wilkie reached on an error and Grant Bell was hit by a pitch. They were stranded there to end the game.

Centennial Bank took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Bryson Morris singled and scored on a sacrifice fly by Casey Vaughan.

North Little Rock tied the game with a run in the top of the second. Centennial Bank reclaimed the lead with a run in the bottom of the second. Cole Thomas doubled and scored on a single by Wilkie.

It took a 3-1 lead with a run in the fourth. Wilkie singled and scored on a single by Bryson Morris.

Centennial Bank scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth. Chip Morris, Cole Thomas and Bryson Morris all scored when Tristan Bulice hit a grand slam.

Zone tournament

Centennial Bank opens play in the Zone 3 area tournament Thursday at 7 p.m. against Jacksonville Gwatney Chevrolet at Burks Park in North Little Rock.

If Centennial Bank beats Jacksonville, it will play North Little Rock on Friday at 7 p.m. If it loses, it will play Saturday at 1 p.m. The tournament continues through Monday.
