NORTH LITTLE ROCK — The Cabot Centennial Bank Team One qualified for the American Legion junior state baseball tournament with a 16-11 win over Jacksonville in the zone tournament Sunday at Vince DeSalvo Stadium.
Centennial Bank played in the zone tournament title game Tuesday night after it was postponed Monday because of severe weather.
The state tournament starts Friday at Sheridan.
Centennial Bank is now 24-14 on the season.
Sunday’s win was a struggle for Centennial Bank, which jumped out to a 10-1 lead after three innings.
Jacksonville got back into the game with a five-run fifth inning, cutting the deficit to 13-7.
Centennial Bank pushed its lead back to 16-8 with three runs in the bottom of the fifth.
With one out, Jonathan Latture doubled to left field. Gavin Tillery and Austin Null both walked to load the bases. Trent Frizzell singled, driving in Latture. Lee Sullivan then walked, driving in Tillery. Null then scored on a sacrifice fly by Riley Knudsen.
Jacksonville then scored four runs in the top of the sixth to make the score 16-11.
Centennial Bank’s Landon James pitched the seventh, allowing one runner on a single with two outs but he retired the next batter to end the game.
Centennial Bank finished with 12 hits. Tristan Bulice led his team with three. Sullivan and Tillery had two hits each.
Knudsen and Null led Centennial Bank with three runs scored. Scoring twice were Adam Hicks, Latture, Tillery and Sullivan. Scoring single runs were Bulice and John VanHoveln.
Hicks was credited with the win. He gave up one run and three hits in three innings of work. He struck out four.
Cabot 8, Sylvan Hills 4
Cabot Centennial Bank advanced to the semifinals of the zone tournament with a 8-4 win over Sylvan Hills on Friday.
The Bruins led 1-0 after one inning. Centennial Bank then scored twice in the second, once each in the third, fourth and sixth innings and three times in the seventh.
Gavin Tillery got the win for Centennial Bank. He pitched seven innings, allowing four runs on four hits while striking out four.
Centennial Bank had 14 hits. Collecting two each were Riley Knudsen, Adam Hicks, Tristan Bulice, Jonathan Latture, Austin Null and Dylan Bowers.
Knudsen and Null led their team with two runs each. Also scoring were Latture, Bowers, Tillery and John VanHoveln.
Cabot 14, Conway 1
Cabot Centennial Bank opened the zone tournament with a 14-1 win over Conway on Friday.
Centennial Bank scored four runs in the first, one in the second and nine in the fifth.
Conway’s lone run came in the bottom of the first.
Centennial Bank pitcher Riley Knudsen got the complete-game victory. He gave up one run on one hit in five innings of work. He struck out three in the win.
Centennial Bank finished with 14 runs on 13 hits. Knudsen led his team with thee runs scored and three hits. Also scoring three times was Dalten Hurst.
Tristan Bulice added two runs. Also scoring were Adam Hicks, Jonathan Latture, Gavin Tillery, Austin Null, Lee Sullivan and John VanHoveln.
