The Cabot Lady Panthers split a pair of games on the softball diamond this past week, taking a 7-4 win over Batesville and dropping a 1-0 heartbreaker to powerhouse Beebe.

The Lady Panthers missed several chances to get on the board against the Beebe Lady Badgers, which came back to haunt them in the end.

Cabot left the bases loaded twice in the loss.

In the first inning, Heather Hill and Kaitlyn Felder each hit two-out singles, and were followed by a walk to Molly Wood to load the bases. A strikeout ended that threat.

In the third inning, an error and a fielder’s choice with two-outs was followed by a Wood single to again load the bases. A grounder to short brought the third out.

Cabot wouldn’t get another base runner past first base for the remainder of the contest.

Felder held Beebe to just a single in the first inning and another in the fourth before the deciding sixth inning. Felder allowed another single, but it was erased by a fielder’s choice. Another fielder’s choice and an error allowed what ended up being the winning run to score for the Lady Badgers.

Against Batesville, while the Lady Pioneers scored more runs, the Lady Panthers’ offense was much more potent as well in the win.

Cabot got on the board in a big way early in the game, when Hill hit a single and was followed by Felder mashing a two-run homer to give the Lady Panthers a 2-0 lead.

Batesville knocked one run off of that lead in the third inning with the held of an error, but Cabot bounced back with three runs in the fifth. Erin Eckert doubled and quickly scored on a Rachel Allgood double. Hannah Montgomery and Hill both singled, while Felder picked up an RBI on a sacrifice fly to left.

Cabot put the game away in the seventh inning as Montgomery doubled and scored on a double by Hill. Hill came around when Felder reached on an error.
