The Cabot Panthers placed fourth as a team in the 7A-Central Conference Wrestling Meet, with a pair of Panthers taking conference titles.

Austin Dye looked dominant while winning the 113-pound division. After a bye, Dye followed with a pin, a 13-1 win and a 5-2 win in the finals.

In the 138-pound class, Erik Cooley was even more dominant. Cooley won his first match by pin, then tossed a technical fall shutout before crushing the championship match 12-1.

Cam Pitchford finished second in the 106-pound division, losing in the finals to Little Rock Catholic’s Andrew Elmore. Pitchford won his first three matches by bye, 14-2 and a pin.

Michael Morgan came close to being the conference champ at 145, but fell 5-4 to Catholic’s Cooper Griffin in the finals. Morgan won his first two matches by pin. Catholic won the overall conference championship as a team.

Hayden Mills earned third place in the 126 class with a pair of pins in the consolation bracket. After a bye, Mills won by pin in 30 seconds before losing 4-3 and switching brackets.

At 160, Cody Pugh finished in third place as well. Pugh had a bye and a quick pin in the winner’s bracket before his loss. In the consolation bracket, Pugh got another pin, then took the third-place match 9-5.

Ben Long also finished in the top four for his 132-pound class for Cabot. Long pinned his first opponent before losing and dropping to the consolation bracket. There, he edged out a 6-5 win, then fell 9-5 in the bracket finals.

In the 285-pound division, Harris Sutton lost his first match, but came back with a pin in the consolation bracket. His final loss came to Conway’s Aaron Alexander, who went on to finish third.

Delton Farinelli (120), Jerrod Wheeler (170), Nathan Bundren (195), and Austin Jones (220) all competed hard for Cabot in the tournament, but didn’t pick up any wins this time.
