The Cabot Panthers wound up their regular season with a 1-0 shutout over the North Little Rock Charging Wildcats.
That win made the Panthers co-champs in the conference with Searcy, put them as the third seed in the Class 7A State Tournament and pushed the Wildcats to the fourth seed.
While it was a great defensive game in the field, the players on both sides also had good looks at the goal, only to be stymied by great saves from the goalkeepers.
In the end, it was a corner kick by Cameron Stokes that decided the game for Cabot. Stokes was able to bend the ball directly into the upper corner for what became the game-winner.
"I was really happy with our performance," said Cabot coach Steven Porter. "We were really disappointed with out performance last Tuesday. Tonight, we really focused on relaxing and enjoying the game."
Cabot finished 6-1 in the conference and 10-3-1 overall with the win.
The Panthers will play Thursday at 3 against Springdale Har-Ber in Fayetteville.
"We have really had an excellent year, especially considering that we lost two starters for the season before the first ball was kicked," said Porter. "The boys have worked hard all year and deserve to be conference co-champions."
