Robert Mason Umfleet of Cabot was selected as a 2014 USSSA ESPN All-American Pitcher after chosen top producer in the All American Tryouts at Southaven, Miss., including a record setting time of 8.22 seconds in the 60-yard dash.

Umfleet will be leaving for Orlando, Florida on July 30 and will represent the southeast United States while playing on the 9U Southeast Team Aug. 1-3 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. The games are to be televised on ESPN.

He currently plays on the Arkansas Easton Elite 9U in Sherwood and leads his team with a .604 batting average and 117 strikeouts; he also leads his team in runs scores, RBIs, home runs and stolen bases while helping his team to the 9AAA State Championship and 5th place in the DFW World Series while pitching 8 innings, giving up five hits and two runs. He has earned USSSA Best of the Best, All State, and State Tournament Most Valuable Player.
