Cabot Centennial Bank White split a doubleheader with Jonesboro on Saturday.
Cabot won the nightcap 7-2 behind a strong pitching performance by Adam Hicks.
Jonesboro won the opener 11-9.
In the second game, Hicks scattered three hits over five innings of work. Both runs were unearned, coming in the bottom of the fourth with his team already leading 7-0. Hicks also had seven strikeouts.
Cabot got on the board with four runs in the top of the first. Chris Odom singled and scored on a double by Gavin Tillery. Hicks walked. He and Tillery both scored on a double by Dalten Hurst. Brandon Jones then drove in Hurst with the fourth run of the inning.
Cabot plated three more runs in the second. With one out, Hicks walked and scored on a triple by Tyler Tucker. Tillery followed with a single to drive in Tucker. Hurst reached on a fielder’s choice and scored on a double by Jones.
Cabot finished with 11 hits — two each by Tillery, Hurst and Jones. Also collecting hits were Jonathan Latture, Odom, Hicks, Tucker and Clay Spafford.
In the first game, Cabot led 5-1 after one inning but Jonesboro scored eight runs combined in the fifth and sixth innings to lead 11-7.
Cabot scored single runs in the fourth and fifth and twice in the top of the seventh.
Cabot finished with 12 hits. Odom was 4 for 4 with four RBIs. Austin Null and Jones had two hits each
Jones led Cabot with three runs scored. Null scored twice. Also scoring were Latture, Tillery, Hurst and Odom.
Cabot 8, Benton 7
Cabot rallied for two runs in the bottom of the sixth and final inning to beat Benton 8-7 last week.
Trailing 7-6, Cabot’s Jess Reed reached on an error to start the inning. Three batters later, Adam Hicks ended the game with a two-run homer to centerfield.
Cabot scored four runs in the fifth. Scoring were Jonathan Latture, Dylan Bowers, Hicks and Chris Odom.
Cabot then scored twice in the fourth. Austin Null singled and scored. Tyler Gilbert walked and scored.
