Why do you want to be elected to public office?
I want to be an alderman for the city of Carlisle, because I believe I can make a difference in the way our city operates financially and to ensure that each citizen is treated fairly and equally in their dealings with the city. I want to ensure that all citizens of Carlisle are informed about all matters that concern them.
I want to promote economic growth, the improvement of our city infrastructure and public safety, without placing and unnecessary tax burden on our citizens. I want to provide a clean and safe environment for all the citizens of Carlisle to live in.
What qualifications do you have that enable you to meet the responsibilities of a city council member?
I am a life long resident of Carlisle, a graduate of Carlisle High School, a graduate of Ouachita Baptist University, where I received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology. I taught science In the Carlisle School District until my retirement after 32 years of service. I have completed 20 of the required 21 workshop hours that are required to become a certified municipal official. I have served on the Carlisle city council for five terms. My past service on The Carlisle city council has given me the experience and knowledge that is needed to be an Alderman on our city council. I am presently serving on the Lonoke County Housing Authority Board. This has given me the experience that is needed in providing affordable housing for those who qualify.
What do you believe are the most important issues facing the city council?
To promote an environment that would be conducive to bringing in new industry, which would In turn result in an increase in our population. The population increase would increase the tax base, would lead to improvement of our infrastructure and the services that are provided by the city for the people.
What would you do meet the issue?
I would strive to have a city government that is progressive, open to new ideas and would ask for the input from the citizens of our community. I would strive to produce an environment in our community that would encourage new industry to want to land in our community, and bring a workforce that would produce their product.
