Makenzie Bennett, left, a student at Carlisle High School, won the title of 2013 Miss Lonoke County Rice. Bailey Amaden, also a student at Carlisle High School, received second place. The University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service and the Lonoke County Farm Bureau Women’s Committee sponsored the contest April 11 at the U of A Cooperative Extension Service Building in Lonoke. Contestants gave speeches on the importance of the rice industry, were interviewed and served prepared rice dishes. Bennett is the daughter of David and Tara Bennett and Amaden is the daughter of Brent and Jil Amaden.
