Savannah Schafer, 12, of Carlisle has been chosen to showcase her recycled denim purses in the Curbside Couture Fashion Gala at the Clinton Library, downtown Little Rock, this Sunday.
In an elimination contest that included the entire state of Arkansas, 85 were chosen in the first round to enter their recycled material designs including Schafer. The chosen attended a mentoring session with four professional designers, including Korto Momolu, a "Project Runway" first runner-up.
Schafer’s purses were judged in the second round and was chosen for the runway show, with possibilities of a cash award. Winners will be notified Sunday evening.
Schafer is a sixth grade student at Carlisle Elementary school. She designed her purses originally for the Gifted & Talented Product Fair at elementary school, where her purses sold out. She is the daughter of Cliff and Rachel Schafer.
