Carlisle Police are investigating the Saturday morning robbery of the Carlisle Citgo at 1504 Bobby L. Glover Hwy.
According to Carlisle Police Chief Eric Frank, officers were dispatched to the convenience store after receiving a 911 call at 9:26 a.m.
Upon arriving at the scene, officer Brent Doney learned that the cashier had been robbed at gunpoint by a single black male, who made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
According to a press release from the Carlisle Police Department, the suspect was further described as being approximately 6 feet two inches tall, with a slender build and shoulder-length dreadlocks. He was wearing a brown or tan-colored doo rag, a tan Carhartt-type jacket, charcoal stone-washed Dickies-type pants, and was armed with a black pistol. The suspect fled the store on foot heading north toward the Phillips 66.
Additional officers from the Carlisle and Hazen police departments, a Lonoke County Sheriff’s deputy, and an Arkansas State Trooper also responded to the scene.
"We initially thought that the suspect had run into the field behind the Citgo," said Frank, "and we had requested a canine unit from Hazen to try to track him. Our subsequent investigation of the incident leads us to believe that the suspect probably entered a getaway car, possibly a black or dark blue Toyota Camry, or similar import, occupied by two or three additional black males, that had been waiting on him at the Phillips 66."
Carlisle Police are requesting that anyone who was in the area Saturday morning and possibly saw the suspect or his vehicle to contact them at 870-552-3431.
