The Carlisle Bison swept a conference doubleheader from Palestine-Wheatley on Friday. Carlisle won the first game 8-4 and the nightcap 6-4.
Carlisle is now 5-0 on the season.
In the first game, the Bison scored twice in the first inning. Josh Mathis doubled and scored. Austin Reed walked and scored.
The Bison scored three runs in the fourth. Jacob Gordon, Dylan Brazeal and Jacob Cagle all singled and scored. Nick Schafer drove in two runs with a single in the inning.
The Bison’s final three runs came in the seventh. Scoring were Mathis, Hart and Reed.
Mathis got the win, striking out eight in seven innings of work.
In the second game, the Bison scored twice in the first inning. Hart and Reed both crossed the plate.
The Bison scored a single run in the third. Deron Ricks walked and scored.
Carlisle scored another run in the fourth. Hart was hit by a pitch and scored on a double by Ricks.
Carlisle’s final two runs came in the bottom of the sixth. Hart doubled and scored. Reed walked and scored.
Hart got the win, giving up four runs in six innings of work. He struck out eight. Mathis got the save, pitching the seventh inning. He struck out the final two batters he faced.
