Today: The Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Humnoke Arkansas will hold its last day of Vacation Bible School from 6-8:30 p.m. for age 5 through teens. Friday: There will be a meeting for the parents of the players on the Carlisle Pee Wee Football Team at 6 p.m. at the Carlisle Civic Center.
Saturday: Morris Chapel Baptist Church located on Arkansas Highway 11 in Des Arc will host a gospel singing at 5 p.m. The group Highway 86 will perform free of charge to the public.
July 28: The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will host a free boaters education course from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at the Lonoke Community Center, at 1355 W. Front St. in Lonoke. Participants must register with the center at (501) 676-4390.
Anyone born after 1985 must take and pass an approved Arkansas Game and Fish Commission Boating Education Course and carry proof that he or she satisfactory completed the course in order to operate a motorboat in Arkansas.
The course is designed to teach the fundamentals of safe boating necessary to reduce loss of life, personal injury and property damage while increasing the boating enjoyment for outdoor enthusiasts.
The minimum six-hour course includes: boat classification, registration, life saving equipment, navigation aids, rules of the road, maintenance, courtesy and much more.
July 30-Aug. 3: Landmark Missionary Baptist Church at 517 E. Third in Carlisle will hold Vacation Bible School from 6-8:30 p.m. for two years old through sixth grade. A nursery will also be provided. This year’s theme is Sonlight Express and will include puppet show, Bible lessons, music, games and crafts. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Aug. 4: The Mothers for Education annual "Back to School Bash" will be from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the Carlisle City Park. This is a free event for families in the Carlisle community and surrounding areas.
Aug. 13: The Lonoke City Council will meet at 6 p.m. at city hall.
