Lonoke Mayor Wayne McGee gave his State of the City Address on Monday night during the council meeting. McGee said he is pleased with how well the city has continued to grow despite the economic struggle many cities have endured. He said there are already more prospective business looking at property in Lonoke and he believes the city will continue to grow in the future.

According to McGee, some of the purchase and happenings in 2013 include:

•The purchase of a jar tester for the water plant for $2400

•The purchase of a grapple truck for $54,500

•The purchase of a new aerator for $17999.17

•Repair of additional aerators for $10,596.12

•Manhole repairs in the amount of $32,554.00

•Cleaning and videoing sewer lines for a total of $3,300.00

•Repairs to the old leaf machine and new green machine for $11,095.95

•Repairs on the 2008 Dodge truck for $3638.35

•Fire hydrants were replaced or repaired for a total of $25,245.67. Price includes new fire hydrants, valves and repair kits.

•Replacement of the heat and air system in the city shop office for $4,700.00

•Replace 43 water meters

•136 service lines were repaired or replaced

•47 main lines were repaired or replaced

•Animal control received 1721 calls

•255 feet of 12" culvert pipe was installed, costing a total of $1912.50

•35 feet of 18" culvert pipe was installed, costing a total of $367.50

•350 feet of 4" culvert pipe was installed, costing a total of $1050.00

•180 feet of 10" culvert pipe was installed, costing a total of $1170.00

•110 feet of 24" culvert pipe was installed, costing a total of $2475.00

•310 feet of 30" culvert pipe was installed, costing a total of $8990.00

•150 feet of 48" culvert pipe was installed, costing a total of $6750.00

•100 new signs and sign posts (stop, and street signs), costing $4172.33

•Weed killer for spraying ditches cost a total of $2,134.64

•1140 feet of 6" water main was installed

•A new Ford truck was purchased for the water department in the amount of $22,054.00

•New rollers were purchased for the case track hoe for $3,708.81

•1350.27 tons of gravel was purchased

•119.10 tons of sand was purchased

•Two loads of fill dirt was purchased

•230.07 tons of cold mix was purchased.

•Total price for gravel, sand, cold mix and fill dirt was $43,544.01
