Central Lonoke County escaped major damage Friday when storms brought near-hurricane-force winds, downing trees, branches and power lines. Information from the National Weather Service noted that gusts estimated at 65 mph struck at Sherwood in Pulaski County, blowing out windows at a car dealership. Winds from the same storm system then struck in Lonoke County. This grain bin on the Scott Mitchell farm, on Arkansas Highway 31 north of Brownsville, was damaged by the winds. The winds that struck June 5 - 7 were blamed for at least one death, at Jonesboro, and some injuries. Photo Ed Galucki
