Lucille Hearon Holt, age 92, went to be with her Heavenly Father August 11, 2012. She was born September 20, 1919, in Welcome, Arkansas, to Charlie Ross and Bessie Kennedy Hearon. She graduated from England High School in 1936 and the Arkansas Teachers College in Conway in 1938. She taught school for one year at Central School before retiring to rear her family.
She is survived by her children Ross (Jeannie) Holt of Lonoke, Sandra (the late Pete) Hill of England and Vicky (the late Tommy) Holt of Little Rock; six grandchildren, Dianna (Todd) Stockdale, Scott (Tracey) Hill, Jeffrey Hill, Carrie (Darrick) Lowery, Trey (Kendall) Holt, and Courtnie Holt; five great-grandchildren, Celia, Thomas, Lilly, and Caroline Hill and Peyton Lowery; one sister, Ruby Lee Williams; and a host of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Thomas Holt; her son, Tommy Holt; her parents; and a sister, Estelle Bagby.
She was very devoted to her family as a loving mother and was affectionately known as “Meme” to her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and their many friends. She was a member of Caney Creek Baptist Church for over 50 years where she served as a devoted and faithful Sunday School teacher.
A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 14, at Caney Creek Baptist Church. Burial was in Mulberry Cemetery.
