The Lonoke Jackrabbits improved to 20-4 on the season with wins over Newport and Clinton this week.

The Jackrabbits beat Clinton 63-39 on Tuesday at the Gina Cox Center. On Monday, Lonoke avenged an earlier loss to Newport, beating the Greyhounds 62-46. That game was postponed from Friday because of winter weather.

In the win over Clinton, Lonoke led 23-11 after one quarter. Darian Young hit three three-pointers in the first eight minutes. Jamel Rankin scored eight. Blake Mack scored four while Cedric Cooney hit two free throws.

The Jackrabbits pushed their lead to 35-17 at halftime. Mack scored seven points in the second quarter.

Lonoke then outscored the Yellowjackets 28-22 in the second half to get the win.

Young led Lonoke with 15 points. He hit four three-pointers in the victory.

Rankin scored 13. Mack added 12. Darius McCall scored 10 — all in the second half.

Jawaun Bryant had four. Scoring two each were Tykel Gray, Cooney, Bryson Jackson and Justin Meadows. Brenton Bryant added a free throw.

In the win over Newport, Lonoke got off to a quick start, lead 13-6 after one quarter. Mack scored seven points while McCall had four and Cooney scored two.

Lonoke pushed its lead to 27-15 by halftime and 46-23 after three quarters.

Mack led Lonoke with 32 points. Rankin scored 13. McCall added eight. Young scored six. Cooney had three.

The Jackrabbits also played at Marianna last week, beating the Trojans 75-72.

Lonoke trailed 36-35 at halftime before rallying for the win.

Mack led Lonoke with 42 points. Rankin scored 15, including 10 in the fourth quarter. Jawaun Bryant had nine. McCall scored six. Cooney had two while Meadows scored one.

Lonoke will host Heber Springs in the regular-season finale Friday at the Gina Cox Center. The 4A-2 district tournament will be played at Marianna next week.
