The Lonoke Jackrabbits finished as 4A-2 conference runners-up after dropping a 54-48 decision at Heber Springs on Friday.

The Jackrabbits are now 17-5 overall and 12-2 in league play. Pine Bluff Dollarway got the top seed with a 13-1 conference mark.

In the loss to Heber Springs, Lonoke trailed 10-6 after one quarter. Dra Offord hit a three-pointer for Lonoke while Jamel Rankin scored two and Darrius McCall added a free throw.

The Panthers pushed their lead to 23-15 at halftime.

Each team scored 10 points in the third quarter as Lonoke trailed 33-25.

The Jackrabbits were able to shave some off the lead in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Panthers 23-21 but couldn’t get over the hump.

Blake Mack led Lonoke with 15 points. Rankin added 13. McCall scored eight. Zack Risner added four. Offord and Darian Young had three points each. Tykel Gray scored two.

Lonoke will play Southside Batesville in the semifinals of the 4A-2 district tournament tonight at 5:30 in Newport. If Lonoke wins, it will play the winner of Dollarway and Heber Springs in the finals Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

Regional tournament

The Lonoke Jackrabbits will play in the Class 4A East Region tournament next week at Heber Springs High School.

If Lonoke is the top seed, it will play Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. If the Jackrabbits are fourth, they will play Wednesday at 8:30 p.m.

If Lonoke is the second seed, it will play Feb. 21 at 8:30 p.m. If the Rabbits are third, they will play Feb. 21 at 5:30 p.m.
