April 21: There will be an Adult Craft held at the Lonoke Public Library at 10 a.m. .
April 22: A Celebrate Earth Day event, sponsored by the Lonoke Lions club will be from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Lonoke County Court House and Lonoke County library. Admission is free. Vendors, informational booths, special speakers and demonstrators, a food drive, entertainment, contests, food and more will be available throughout the day. May 13: Experienced at food preservation or a novice wanting to learn, classes offered at the Lonoke County Cooperative Extension office are the thing for you. Classes in water bath and pressure canning using the newest techniques are being offered in preparation for the summer harvest. A pickling class will also be offered for those who want to learn how to turn those cucumbers into delicious pickles. Whether you enjoy foods from your own garden or locally grown from the Farmers’ Market these classes can be beneficial. Pressure canning will be taught on May 13 from 9 a.m. until noon, water bath canning May 13 from 1- 4 p.m., and the pickling class will be on June 3 from 9 a.m. until noon. During the pickling class we will also discuss dehydration. Each class will meet in the Cooperative Extension conference room on Hwy 70 East. There will be a cost of $10 per person for each class to cover the cost of food with each participant taking home one jar of each item preserved.
