The Lonoke County library board approved the Lonoke library to participate in a fundraiser event during its monthly meeting on May 9 at the Lonoke Library.
Cassie Abbott, children director for the Carlisle and Lonoke libraries said she has been approached by Arvest Bank in Lonoke about partnering with Atwoods to host a fundraiser for the Lonoke Library. She said with board approval, the event will be held from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Atwoods. The library would receive a $100 donation plus proceeds for hosting the event, according to Abbott. Abbott said the funds will be used for programming supplies at the Lonoke library. After some discussion, the board unanimously approved to partner with Arvest Bank and Atwoods for a library fundraiser, with all proceeds going toward programming cost.
In other business, library clerks and director’s from the Carlisle, Lonoke, England and Cabot public libraries presented the board with information about adult, teen and children summer reading activities. Activities vary by location but will begin with a summer reading kick off event and close with a closing event.
