The Lonoke County Quorum Court accepted the resignation of District 2 Justice of the Peace Barry “BJ” Weathers during its Thursday, May 18 meeting.
]At the request of the quorum court, Weathers took his final seat at the table as District 2 JP. During the April 20 meeting, Weathers gave his unofficially resignation. Weathers, who has an address in Ward, said he is moving just out of his district and into another JP’s district. Therefore he would be unable to retain his seat on the quorum court. With the purchase of his new home at the beginning of May, the quorum court unanimously accepted by vote, Weathers official resignation.
In other business, the quorum court unanimously approved appropriation ordinance 2017-06 to amend the 2017 annual operating budget to reflect the anticipated revenue of an insurance check for $7,847.50 and $13,130 for auctioned vehicles.
Before close of the meeting, Judge Doug Erwin announced that the Lonoke County Museum would be hosting a live history event from 10 a.m. -2 p.m. this Saturday, May 27 at the Lonoke County Museum. Actors will be playing roles of locals during early time periods. Admission to the public event is free. Erwin suggested everyone come out and bring their cameras.
The next regular scheduled Lonoke County Quorum Court meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. June 15 in the Annex Building
