The Today’s THV11 – Arkansas Food Bank Summer Cereal Drive is celebrating its 17th year of existence in 2017.
The Summer Cereal Drive begins next Tuesday, May 30, and continues through to Thursday, June 22.
In Cabot, Today’s THV11 will be broadcasting live from 6 a.m, to 9 a.m. at the Harp’s Grocery at 801 N. 2nd St.
“Last year, a record 330,000 boxes of cereal was donated, feeding children throughout Central and Southeast Arkansas all the way through February,” reads a release from the Arkansas Foodbank.”With your help, we’re closer to feeding kids all year round.”
The 2017 goal is to be announced when THV11 and the Arkansas Foodbank hold their kickoff breakfast this Thursday, May 25..
The Summer Cereal Drive provides non-perishable breakfast items that are both nutritious and kid-friendly for children and families in Central Arkansas who would otherwise go without the most important meal of the day – breakfast.
“Who can donate?” continues the release. “Anyone. Individuals and schools can donate boxes and make online contributions. Plus, businesses and organizations can register to participate in the drive for a little friendly competition.”
The Drop off Finale is set for Friday, June 22 , live from 5 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Foodbank
“ Businesses and organizations are encouraged to drop off their final donations at the Foodbank that day,” according to the release.
An awards breakfast: is set for Friday, July 14th at the Foodbank Warehouse from 5-7a.m.
Items that can be donated include:
Dry cereal – boxes or bags, eight ounces. or more (Think Nutritious!);
Cream of Wheat
