The Quilters of Lonoke Extension Homemakers Club has earned state recognition.

The group is among the 111 clubs and county councils being honored today, June 7, during the awards luncheon at the annual Arkansas Extension Homemakers Council state meeting at the Hot Springs Convention Center.

The club is being recognized for its outstanding contributions to the community. It is a state project book winner.

The state council is a volunteer organization associated with the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture Cooperative Extension Service.

The Quilters of Lonoke Extension Homemakers Club chose to support the Lonoke County Safe Haven at Cabot, which provides a safe place to recover from the trauma of domestic violence, by making skirts and scarves. Seventy-six skirts and several coordinating scarves were completed and donated.
