On Thursday, July, 20, the Woodlawn Community Center opened their doors at 10:30 a.m. for their weekly community events.
President Cecelia Anderson opened the program by having Sue Grady, Dorothy Henry, Marilyn Lewis, Doyle Anderson, Roy Kittell, Brother Fred Dollar, Andy Childress, David Neal, Janet Ray, Brenda Ott, C. L. Ott, Sue Swayne, Kay Barnes, Jessie Sanders, Carol MacArthur, Jackie Maxwell and Dorothy Williams recite the “Pledge of Allegiance” and sang “God Bless America.”
Janet Ray gave the invocation, thanking God for our many blessings and praying for Anita Weathers, Mary Thate, Dorothy Williams and Sue Grady that are on the sick list. After singing “Amazing Grace,” accompanied by Janet Ray on the piano, Brother Fred Dollar, pastor of New Hope Baptist Church presented an inspirational message that “Jesus is the most important Spirit of God the Father.” Jesus holds the universe together. He is invisible, like gravity and the air we breathe. Jesus relationship to us is unique. We are indeed blessed. Brother Fred blessed the noon meal. After dinner, Martha Dawson, the secretary-treasurer of the Woodlawn E.H.C. along with Cecelia Anderson, president and Marilyn Lewis, vice president, updated, everyone with the latest Lonoke County E.H.C. programs and events. “Getting ready for the Lonoke County Fair.”
This Thursday, July 27, our special talented friend Fred Staley will play older music and sing special older songs, sometimes accompanied by the attendees. An enjoyable day and program. Please feel free to come and join us for food and friendship at the Woodlawn Community Center, 10070 Arkansas Highway 31 North. Come early for a cup of coffee and bring a dish for pot luck.
