On Thursday, July 27, the Woodlawn Community Center opened their doors at 10:30 a.m. for their weekly community events.
President Cecelia Anderson opened the event by having Louise Crabtree, Carol McArthur, Kay Barnes, Jeff Welch, Marilyn Lewis, Jackie Maxwell, Dorothy Henry, Anita Weathers, Fred Staley, Carolyn Staley, Jack Boles, Lisa Thomas, Cindy Childress, Tommy Johnson, Jay Patterson, Sue Grady, Gladys Williams, Ray Cass, and Dorothy Williams recite “The Pledge of Allegiance,” and sing “God Bless America.”
Prayers were said for our faithful friend Anita Weathers recovering from heart surgery. She paid the center a surprise visit. Our friend Fred Staley was her caregiver, we knew she is still trying to recover. She will need more weeks and days to recover, staying home and resting. Prayers were also said for our faithful member Sue Grady.
After Amazing Grace was sang, our friends and talent guest Fred Staley, Lisa Thomas and Jack Boles delighted everyone with their music and older but great songs. Lisa occasionally played the”Kazoo.” All Attendees enjoyed the music.
Fred Blessed the noon meal. Jeff Welch from the Master Gardeners’ came to the center again to weed the flower beds.We welcome his help. Things are looking great.
This Thursday, Aug. 3, a special program, “On health and wellness,” will be presented by Sandy Rogers, (a great eye opener for weight loss and good health.) included will be entertainment, games and door prizes. Plan to attend this event at the Woodlawn Community Center, 10070 Arkansas Highway 31 north.
Come early for a cup of coffee and bring a dish for pot luck. You will enjoy the Center’s hospitality.
