A man and a woman were reported injured in a hit and run that took place in Fort Smith on Friday night.

According to the Fort Smith Police Department, the driver of a 1998 Harley-Davidson motorcycle reported he was riding north on Midland Boulevard in the outside lane when he came to the intersection on North 43rd St. at 8:15 p.m. Friday. A car pulled out, but then another car followed that vehicle. There was then a collision that threw the driver of the motorcycle and a passenger who was also present about 30 feet from the bike. The vehicle then left the scene south on Midland Boulevard and left behind a grille to a Volvo.

The fleeing vehicle was described as a four-door white Volvo. The driver of the motorcycle, David Paul Edwards, 59, and the passenger, Elaina Chandler, 51, both of Fort Smith, were taken to Sparks Regional Medical Center for treatment. Chandler had a large bump above her left eye, according to the police report.

No citations were issued because the vehicle at fault left the scene, according to the report.
