Dogs ruled the roost Saturday with the opening of the Cabot Dog Park, at the north end of the Cabot Community Pond park.; entry is from Kerr Station Road. Dogs are allowed to run free in the fenced area, which is divided for large and small dogs, but must be accompanied by their owners. Park hours are 8 a.m. to dusk; specific rules are posted at the entryway.


A ribbon cutting Saturday marked the opening of the Cabot Dog Park, at the north end of the Cabot Community Pond park. Mayor Bill Cypert, Aldermen Ed Long, Rick Prentice, Anne Gilliam, Parks and Rec Commissioners Maggie Cope and Nick Whitaker, Parks and Rec director Travis Young, Animal Control director Mike Wheeler, other city officials, as well as a host of dogs and owners were at the event. The Dog Park is open 8 a.m. to dusk.
