The Weatherization Department at the Crawford-Sebastian Community Development Council Inc. is looking to bring in more potential applicants. The work is done free of charge for those whose annual incomes meet the eligibility guidelines.
Weatherization is a vital program in the community action’s effort to assist people in advancing economically and socially, because it provides them with more energy-efficient, safe and healthy homes, according to a news release from the C-SCDC.
The energy expenses of heating and cooling are reduced, allowing for more income to pay for food, medicine, clothing, child care, transportation, education and other basic necessities, all of which help to strengthen the effort to advance, the release states.
In Arkansas, it is administered by the Arkansas Energy Office (AEO) and operated primarily by the private, nonprofit community action agencies. The agencies have contractors to perform the work and AEO’s weatherization staff monitors the program.
