On Nov. 7 at approximately 6:45 a.m. the Cabot Police Department took a report of auto theft. Investigators were able to get a possible location through factory installed tracking equipment and asked for Lonoke County Sheriff’s Office’s assistance.
Officers from the Ward Police Department and Austin Police Department responded to the location and upon arrival, they witnessed two males run from the truck and into the surrounding woods. The Sheriff’s Office K-9 arrived and began tracking the suspects. A short time later, a citizen contacted deputies and said a man had knocked on her door and gave a suspicious story concerning his vehicle being broke down. That citizen witnessed the man run to the back of another home.
The Sheriff and Deputies responded and discovered the home had been broken into and ended up arresting three suspects, Justin Ott, 28, of Jacksonville, John Simpson, 27, of Jacksonville, and Amanda Padilla, 28, of Paragould, who were hiding in the home.
Multiple items from multiple counties and cities have been recovered, along with another stolen vehicle and trailer. Deputies have also recovered a stolen UTV which was taken after the suspects fled from the Officers. That UTV was found behind the burglarized home.
This is an active investigation with another possible suspect. More criminal charges are likely to come forward.
