Ongoing: Christmas for Kids has started its annual fundraising for its toy drive. Donations of toys are also sought to assist the program from children who live in the Cabot School District. For more information, call 501-843-3363, ext. 1029. Donations can be mailed to: Christmas for Kids, C/O Bill Holden, 100 Gunsmoke Drive, Austin, AR 72007. To donate toys and arrange pickup, call 501-743-3560. Toys can also be brought to any elementary school in the Cabot School District. The program ends Dec. 19.

Thursday: Santa Shack returns! Visit Santa Claus at the Wal-Mart Supercenter in Cabot starting this Friday, Nov. 24 through Dec. 23. The schedule is Fridays, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., noon to 2 p.m., 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday it is noon to 2 p.m., and 3 p.m. to p.m.
The schedule for Dec. 18 through Dec. 22 is Monday through Friday, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Monday: Deadline to enter Lonoke’s Grand Christmas Parade is 5 p.m. here will be no same day entries into the parade. All parade entries must be received at the Wade Knox Children’s Advocacy Center by 5 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 27.
Lonoke will also have a Winter Wonderland Window Competition and Get Your Lights On Christmas Light Battle. The “Christmas and Candy Canes” parade and window competition is in coordination with the 34rd Annual Merry Thanks on Sunday, Dec. 3. Merry Thanks begins at 1:30 – 4:30 p.m. and the parade begins at 5 p.m. with Santa Claus highlighting the conclusion of the parade.
Lonoke Merchants will open their doors inviting you to shop locally and take advantage of store specials. The Lonoke Depot will be filled local craft vendors.
The Parade Lineup begins at 4 p.m. All parade participants must complete entry forms to be in the parade. These forms can be found on the Wade Knox Children’s Advocacy Website at www.wadeknoxcenter.org.
Check-In for the parade begins at 4 p.m. at Northwest Front and Mill Street. The following items will be checked: (1) Entry Form is on file, (2) Driver of vehicle is 18 years of age or older, (3) Has appropriate current insurance for the vehicle entered in the parade, and (4) Parade Waiver has been signed and received. If any of these items are not on file, the entry will not be allowed in the parade. This is for the safety of the entry, other parade participants, and those attending the parade.
All individuals who are on a float, riding in a vehicle or walking must be on the float or in the vehicle at the time of check in. No other individuals will be allowed in the parade lineup area after check in. This is for the safety of those on the floats, in the cars and assisting with the parade lineup.
Staging and loading of floats or vehicles may take place in front of the Lonoke Baptist Church on Front Street. Individuals who are dropping off float riders may then exit on to Highway 70 to avoid traffic congestion at the check in point.
No entry from Third Street and Mill Street will be allowed.
Once entry is checked in, parade volunteers will direct the driver to their location in the lineup. The last entry for parade lineup will be accepted at 4:45 p.m. No entries allowed after this time. The Parade will begin promptly at 5 p.m.
The Judges’ Stand will be located at or near the Riceland Food office building located on Third Street.
Winners of each category will be announced at the Announcer’s Stand at the intersection of Highway 70 and Center Street. Awarding of Winner Certificates will be at this time.
The parade route will end in the Parking lot behind the Gina Cox Center.
All parade entries must stay on the designated parade route at all times.
No livestock, ATV’s or bicycles are allowed in the parade.

Winter Wonderland Window Contest will be judged beginning at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3. To be judged, Entry Form and fee must be received at the Wade Knox CAC no later than 5 p.m., this Monday, Nov. 27. Winners will be announced at the Announcer’s stand during the parade.
Get Your Lights On Christmas Light Battle will be judged on Saturday, Dec. 2 beginning at 6 p.m. The City of Lonoke has been divided into four wards and each ward will have a winner. The Get Your Lights On Champion will be selected by the judges from the winners of each ward. Entry forms for this event are due this Monday, Nov. 27, at 5 p.m.

Dec. 4: The deadline to enter the annual Cabot Christmas Parade is Dec. 4. The parade has been scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 10 at 3 p.m.
The theme for this year’s parade is “A Hollywood-Movies Christmas!”. Participants are asked to select an idea -or- image that best represents their favorite memory or interpretation of this Christmas theme & use it to design their entry/float. This year’s parade is shaping up to be one of the best ever; including several marching bands, clowns, veterans groups and of course, Santa Claus!!
The Parade Committee would like to encourage as many businesses, groups and organizations as possible to participate, by placing some type of entry in this year’s parade. Trophies will be awarded in the five categories of competition: School/Civic, Church, Business, Animal/Equestrian and General/Personal.
Entry forms, parade rules & route maps are now available at the Veterans Park Community Center, the Cabot Chamber of Commerce office and downloadable at www.cabotparks.com Entry deadline is Monday, Dec. 4. Completed forms, along with $10 entry fee, should be sent to:

The parade will travel South Pine Street/Highway 89, beginning at Panther Trail & continuing northward past the Knights Shopping Center and will then make a left turn onto Pond Street and end at Central Elementary School, which is the same route used for the Cabot Homecoming Parade. The “Awards Presentation” Ceremony will take place immediately following the parade, at the Consolidated Administrative Services Parking Lot (across the street from Knight’s), which is where the Judges’ Stage will also be located.
