A Lonoke County man is being held on a $1 million bond for the death of his wife.


According to the Lonoke County Sheriff’s Office, at 3:30 p.m. on Nov. 19 the department received a call from an individual who was flagged down by a woman on Hamilton Loop, south of Carlisle. According to the caller, the woman said to contact 911 because she had just saw a man stab his wife. A second call was also received, from a man who said he needed the police because he just killed his wife.


Upon arrive to the address near the 2000 block of Hamilton Loop, Sheriff deputies found Tony Thomas, 58, sitting next to a body covered in a blanket. A large knife was located next to the victim, identified as Elke Thomas, 58, who was pronounced dead at the scene.


Investigators with the Lonoke County Sheriff’s Office processed the crime scene.


Thomas was taken into custody and booked into the Lonoke County jail on first Degree Murder charges, a Class Y Felony. According to a press release issued by the Lonoke County Sheriff’s office, Thomas was interviewed and told officers that “he and his wife began to argue and he stabbed her.”


Thomas remains in custody at the Lonoke County Detention Facility.
