The Lonoke County Library Board of Trustees met for their monthly meeting on Nov. 14. Patricia Schafer, Judie Bariola, Sheila Rice and Melissa Bulice were present for the meeting.
During the presentation portion of the meeting, Library System Network Administrator Jason Wilson gave a report on E-Rate. Wilson said he and Director’s Assistant Melissa Moody recently attended an E-Rate class at the Arkansas State Library. He said the only change the library should see on its E-Rate in 2018, is there will no longer be telephone discounts, which has been phased out on E-rate by the Universal Service Administrative Company.
Kathleen Ashmore, Assistant Director addressed the board with an idea of having digital cards for the patrons to use to log onto library computers. She said the digital cards would not accumulate any fines, and would be free for any patron to utilize the computers. The board decided they would like to readdress digital cards once more information is available, such as pros and cons for having digital cards.
Ashmore also told the board that all employee evaluations have been completed and that the Strategic Plan Committee is still working on the new strategic plan for the library. She said all the Lonoke County surveys conducted throughout the county at various festivals have been completed and are done with all of the Focus Group Studies that were also done throughout Lonoke County. Ashmore told the board a draft of the plan will be provided at the next board meeting.
Also during the meeting, the board unanimously voted to:
- Accept the financial report from fund #3008 Library Millage and fund #3408 Library Sales Tax Budget.
- Accept the 3rd Quarter Statistics.
- Accept the Adult/Genealogy services Assistant Job Description.
The next Lonoke County Library Board of Trustee meeting will be at 5 p.m. Jan. 23 at the Carlisle Public Library.
