Teresa Williams Cruise recently announced her candidacy for Lonoke County Assessor.

Cruise has worked for Lonoke County for 21 years, 16 of those as Chief Deputy Assessor. Duties include assessing both personal and real estate properties and working with the State of Arkansas with abstract valuations.

Cruise supervises a department of seven employees throughout Lonoke, Carlisle, England, Austin, Ward, Keo, Coy, Allport, Humnoke and Cabot.

“It is my honor to run for Assessor,” Cruise said in a release. “I was born and raised here in Lonoke County and I chose to work for the citizens of the county for the past 21 years. I’m known as a hard worker and a problem-solver.”

And added, “I believe in treating citizens who need our service fairly and kindly. I will work to see that citizens who walk in with questions walk out with the answers they need.”

Born in Cabot, Cruise now resides in Sylvania. She has one daughter and one grandson. She is the sister of Debbie Williams Carr, Coordinator of Construction Maintenance for the Cabot School District.

The primary will be May 22.
