Lonoke County Library System Board of Trustees met on Jan. 30 at the Carlisle Public Library.
Board members Patricia Schafer, Judie Bariola, Melissa Bulice, Adam Simon and Sheila Rice attended.
During the director’s update, Lonoke County Library Director Deborah Moore said plans for Summer Reading is already underway. She said this years theme is “Libraries Rock” a musical theme. Moore said branch managers are ordering supplies and soliciting donations from local businesses. The Arkansas State Library’s Summer Reading Seminar will be held on March 9 in Ferndale. 10 library employees are currently registered to attend. According to Moore, the Summer reading program has been very successful in past years.
In other business, the board received four bids for janitorial services at the Marjorie Walker McCrary Memorial Library in Lonoke. The highest bid of $86.50 per hour from Molly Maids of Little Rock and the lowest bid of $300 per month was from Brown Janitorial of Little Rock. The remaining bids were $400 per month from John Jones Janitorial and $450 per month from Harris Janitorial.
Each were given a list of services to be rendered and all four bidders estimated two hours to two and half hours per week cleaning. After discussion, which included OSHA approved licensing, the board unanimously approved to accept the bid of $450 per month from Harris Janitorial.
Also during the meeting, the board unanimously approved to:
- Accept the Financial Report of Fund No. 3008, the millage fund with a balance of $466,255.30 and sales tax fund No. 3408 with a balance of $521,184.30 as of Dec. 31, 2017.
-Reimburse Deborah Moore $6, 509.78. for her Spring 2018 Tuition
-Accept the terms of Daniece Howard’s payment of $50 biweekly for insurance paid while on family medical leave. The insurance reimbursement amount owed is $1,846.02.
-Return the check Phyllis Burkett sent to the library for reimbursement of services she felt were not completed and included a letter stating the board feels she completed the duties as Strategic Plan Consultant.
-Continue services with Leroy Gattin in 2018 as consultant with the Lonoke County Library System for $300 per month.
-Accept the LCLS Strategic Plan 2018-2022 as presented.
The next Lonoke County Library Board of Trustees will meet at 5 p.m. March 6 at the Lonoke Library.
